10/7 Charnley River to Mornington
We spent the morning trying to make the most of our time at Charnley River. There were several more singing gates to open and shut on the road out to Dillie Gorge. The place was fantastic all to ourselves. We rock hopped down to a small beach area where we hoped for easy in andContinue reading “10/7 Charnley River to Mornington”

We were leaving the Barnett Roadhouse just after 9am having bought 30 l of fuel and 3 bananas and topped up our water stocks and pumped a little more air into our front tyres. 8/7/21- Manning Gorge
We agreed on a start time of 8:15 for starting the walk in to Manning Gorge. The walk starts with a swim across the swimming hole, so it was a chilly start, but there was already a bit of warmth in the sun by then, and none of us wanted to be making the walkContinue reading “8/7/21- Manning Gorge”
7/7/21- Barnett River Gorge to Manning Gorge.
Today we travelled from Barnett River Gorge after Trevor had a walk to the top of the gorge. It was actually pretty close to midday by the time we set off, but that was OK as we only had about 40km to drive. We pulled into the Mount Barnett roadhouse at about 1230 and itContinue reading “7/7/21- Barnett River Gorge to Manning Gorge.”

We had an early walk to the falls near the river pool after breakfast and pack up. The waterfall wasn’t hugely impressive but the setting made the picture beautiful. The smooth red of the sandstone and quiet waters of the pool together in the morning light were lovely. We found a very deep whirl holeContinue reading “6/7/21 King Edward Crossing to Barnett River Gorge.”
4/7 Mitchell Falls
We started our day with the helicopter ride. We were able to get a “ bargain price” due to the fact that there were 5 of us that wanted to go. We had 18 minutes of joy as we zipped over the famous falls and the surrounding areas. I loved the ride despite the factContinue reading “4/7 Mitchell Falls”
Hiltaba trip – day 5 – Mt Hiltaba
Today most of the walkers got to the cairn on Mt Hiltaba. Erica was not among them. B walkers went from the shearer’s quarters to the homestead, and then on the Warren Bonython loop , which takes you up past the old embankment across the gully which makes a permanent pool. There are a seriesContinue reading “Hiltaba trip – day 5 – Mt Hiltaba”

Heading North for Easter 2/4/21
We drove out of the yard at pretty much exactly 10:30 am-the end of our time allowed window. It had taken us two and a half hours to be ready! The fridge is full ready for four days. How will we ever manage a couple of weeks between shops in a couple of months time?Continue reading “Heading North for Easter 2/4/21”
